Tyson Fury Faces Anthony Joshua in a Titanic Fight

Wilder is set to refuse an offer from Fury to skip their trilogy rematch – but promoter David Higgins has told Bronze Bomber he could land his biggest ever payday for stepping aside

Deontay Wilder has been told he could land his biggest ever payday if he lets Tyson Fury fight Anthony Joshua instead of insisting on a rematch.

The Bronze Bomber lost his WBC heavyweight title to a dominant Fury on Saturday, and is set to refuse an offer from the Gypsy King to skip the trilogy fight he is entitled to under his contract.

But Wilder has been warned it would be “selfish” of him to insist on completing the trilogy, which began with his drawn fight against Fury in 2018.

And the American has been told the best option would be for him to step aside and let Fury fight WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO champion Joshua in an all-British heavyweight unifcation bout.

Then, says promoter David Higgins, Wilder could fight the winner.

f Wilder forces that he’s being selfish.”

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has hinted that Saudi Arabia would be the most likely venue for a money-spinning fight between his fighter and Joshua.

Higgins said that could also prove lucrative for Wilder, and had this message for the American: “To Deontay Wilder – no one wants to see a third fight now between you and Fury. Don’t be selfish, let the world see Fury vs Joshua.

Fury wants to face Anthony Joshua in an all-British heavyweight unification bout.

“They talk about paying you step-aside money. If the likes of Saudi Arabia chucked a few hundred million down, it could be your biggest ever payday for not even fighting, so there’s no excuses there.

“Then perhaps Deontay could fight the winner. The smartest thing to do a three-way deal where Fury vs Joshua happens next and then Wilder gets a shot back later.

“That way he gets paid step-aside money and then he gets a third fight eventually.”
