HP ProBook 450 G6 Laptop Review

The HP ProBook 450 G6 laptop, though unpretentious, is very much a worthy laptop to own. Offering easy upgradability, this system will perform most of the computing jobs easily, providing high value in return.

Design and Build

Though not very creative or extremely stylish, the design of this system will surely grab your attention.

The 15.6-inch HD screen that displays images at 1366 x 768 pixels comes with an anti-glare feature in the design, which is a good bargain considering the price of the laptop.

Moreover, this non-touch screen also comes with LED backlit feature that also adds to the clarity and sharpness of the images.

The lid of the laptop is quite easy to open due to the flexible hinges.

It is due to its supple design that you will not feel too much of a bend on it when you apply the torsion pressure.

The build of the keyboard is another important aspect of this laptop.

Resembling most of the keyboards of the HP ProBook 450 series, the keyboard of this device is good enough and there is a click-like feedback.

There is a touchpad located little below the keyboard. This is of average size and is very responsive and accurate at the same time.

The speakers are above the keyboard, just as HP has continued to do so for the past few years.

This prevents the speakers from being covered when you use the system on your lap or in your bed.

The metal case of this system is comparatively thin, but nothing to the extent to make it ultra-thin.

It is the high-quality build of this silver color device that has enabled HP to keep its weight to 4.41 pounds only.

Performance

The different hardware components of the system help it to perform the basic computing functions effectively, within its limitations.

The 8th generation Intel Quad Core i5-8265U processor comes with 4 cores and 8 threads and operates at 1.60 GHz.

This helps in faster processing of data and instructions. Of course, you can use the Intel Turbo Boost technology to enhance the speed up to 3.90 GHz.

This along with the 6 MB Smart Cache will raise the level of performance even higher and make it far better.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 will ensure images are produced at a faster rate and in good quality.

The graphics card also has the ability to provide maximum support for 4K resolution at 60 Hz.

The operating system, Windows 10 Professional 64, will, as usual, enable easy operation.

The features and functionality of this specific operating system hardly need any specific mention.

RAM & Storage

Though a 16 GB RAM is more preferred now, the 8 GB DDR4 memory of this system will prove to be good enough to do some basic computing jobs on it, along with some simple gameplay, operating at 2400 MHz speed.

However, there are two 260-pin SODIMM RAM slots that will allow you to upgrade the memory up to 16 GB, maximum. This will actually boost its performance.

As for the storage of the system, since this is designed for small computing jobs, the 500 GB SATA hard drive is enough.

Running at a speed of 7200 rpm, it is capable enough to support such jobs with ease and in quick time.

Ports & Connectivity

If you want to add a few external devices with this system, you can do it easily with the different ports in it.

There are two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 port.

You will also get one USB 2.0 port along with one RJ-45, one HDMI 1.4b and one headphone/microphone combo slot.

However, you can also use a SD card reader in this system.

You will be able to use both Bluetooth v4.2 and wi-fi connectivity of 802.11a, b, g, n, and ac (2×2) wireless standard.

Battery Life

Just as all other laptops, the battery life of this system also varies according to the usage.

With all other factors remaining the same, the 45 watt-hour, 3 cell Lithium ion battery will run for about 8 hours while web surfing.

It can be a bit more if it is used for simple video playback only.

However, if you play games on the system, the battery life can come down to only a couple of hours or a bit more.

Additional Features

There are a few additional features of this system that are worth mentioning.

The webcam integrated in the system comes with HD features. The 720p camera will take good enough images.

Another useful feature of the system is its keyboard. It is full size and comes with a good quality numeric keypad. The backlit keyboard is spill resistant that will enable you to write your thoughts over a cup of coffee! (Pun intended).

For your peace in mind, HP ships this product with a manufacturing warranty for one year.
